Unreal Real reality

Overview
These portraits emerged from conversations that exist almost entirely through screens.

These portraits emerged from conversations that exist almost entirely through screens.

A face appears for a moment, freezes, dissolves into pixels, and returns. The image is unstable, yet the desire for connection remains constant. Technology promises closeness, but also makes distance impossible to forget.

What first appears playful or distorted gradually reveals something more fragile. These are portraits of people who are present and absent at the same time. Visible, but untouchable. Near enough to speak to, yet impossibly far away.

The work reflects on a particular kind of longing: the experience of sharing everyday life with someone you cannot reach. Relationships sustained through screens occupy a strange territory between presence and imagination, intimacy and separation.

As a counterpart to Really Real Reality, this series inhabits a different world - one that is tangible, alive, and undeniably real, yet forever inaccessible. A world that continues to call from the other side of the screen. No matter how strong the desire to cross that distance, it remains just beyond reach.
